Reconciliation: Memory, Justice, and Forgiveness
Tuesday, April 15. 5:00pm - 6:30pm. Seattle Center Pavilion Room B.
Description
This workshop will explore the theme of reconciliation and a spirituality of forgiveness from the perspective of the development of compassion in a child, Ruby Bridges, who desegregated the Louisiana public school system in 1960 when she was six years old. It will illustrate how Ruby's fundamentally compassionate outlook on herself, God, and others emerged from her cultural and spiritual identity as an African-American. This identity not only helped little Ruby to survive perpetual hatred and physical danger, but it also taught her the power of forgiveness.
