Putting Compassion into Action With Original Play

Monday, April 14. 6:00pm-7:30pm. Lopez Room.

Description

Original Play is what we all did before we knew about win/lose games and competition. This type of play is innate to us. Find out how relearning the loving kindness we received as children can help us thrive in a world of fear. Original Play is a kind loving touch that conveys the message that, "You are loveable and that there is nothing to fear." It promotes a sense of belonging and allows people to lovingly respond to aggression and competition while maintaining or enhancing self-esteem for all involved. Once we realize how our culture teaches us to compete from birth onward, and we begin to recognize when we go into competition, then we can choose to practice the kindness, safety, joy and belonging we knew as children. Learn the differences between cultural, competitive play and Original Play through workshop exercises, and learn how to keep children safe in their daily lives – how to give love and kindness where aggression and bullying are present.
