Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program

Tuesday, April 15. 5:00pm-6:30pm. Center House Gallery.

Description

Participants will have the opportunity to explore their own attitudes towards the incarcerated and their families, and how those attitudes can affect one’s ability to answer children’s questions about crime and violence in ways that cultivate compassion and empathy without minimizing harmful acts. Facilitators will use techniques borrowed from the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program, which creates opportunities for college students and incarcerated men and women together to study as peers. The facilitators will also share how being involved in education and restorative justice work in prison has enhanced their own sense of compassion and connection to others, including their children.
