Aikido: The Art of Peaceful Solution and Compassion

Tuesday, April 15. 3:00pm - 4:30pm. McCaw Grand Lobby.

Description

The workshop will explore how to model  “compassion in action" for children through anecdotes, stories, and practical demonstrations of Aikido, a non-violent martial art.  Emphasis will be placed on developing compassion on an individual level, through the perfection of character and development of qualities such as courage, endurance, and inner strength. Techniques that illustrate harmony in the neutralization and control of an attacker will be explored through demos with children and teens. Followed by examples on blending with an attacker.
